Discovering Ramin Bahrani

Recently, I had the privilege of auditioning for a small co-starring role in a feature film with with fairly prominent Director – Ramin Bahrani. Roger Ebert named him the top Director of the past decade. I didn’t get the part, but I still viewed the experience as a nice accomplshment. In Chicago, feature film auditions are few and far between and usually you have to be on the given Casting Director’s short list to be considered. I’m still not sure how I got in the room, but I’m certainly grateful to my agent and Paskal Rudnicke Casting for the opportunity.

After countless critical accolades, the project is Ramin Bahrani’s first feature with A-List talent. This movie will star Zac Efron, Dennis Quiad and Heather Graham and shoots in De Kalb, Illinois in late-September. The scenes I read for would have been with Dennis Quaid. I didn’t know this info at the time, but, either way, that’s still pretty cool. Now, it would be much cooler to be “cast” opposite Dennis Quiad, but I’ll take what I can get for now. Bigger and better things to come.

The video above is the trailer for Ramin Bahrani’s film 2007 film Chop Shop. It made Roger Ebert’s ten best list and I’m anxious to see it.
